A native of Amarillo, Texas, Gene earned a Bachelor of Science in Long Term Care Administration at the University of North Texas – Center in the Studies of Aging. As a Licensed Nursing Facility Administrator, Gene has worked for both the Profit and Non Profit Sectors of the Industry. His experience includes development, start up, acquisitions, and maintaining Skilled and Assisted Living Communities. Gene has been a Certified Preceptor for new Skilled Nursing Facility Administrator’s.
Gene started working in Long Term Care at the age of fifteen and throughout High School he maintained jobs in variety of different departments. These front line jobs gave him a clear picture of the challenges of front line staff member.
Upon completion of High School, Gene entered the United States Navy and served onboard Trident Submarines receiving several citations and Battle “E” Medal from COMSUBPAC 9.
Wanting to return to serving seniors, he returned to Texas to pursue his education. While attending UNT, Gene was fortunate to participate in the development of Adult Daycare of North Texas which still serves Denton County Citizens. Gene also served as the Vice President and President for the Gerontology Society while attending UNT.
Gene and his team received the America Healthcare Association “Quality Award” in 2004. He served on the Board as Regional Chair for the Texas Healthcare Association in 2006. Gene was recognized by his peers and Management Team with a “Peer Award” with a Major Healthcare Provider.
