We bring LIFE to those we serve THESE ARE NOT MERE WORDS, THEY ARE THE GUIDING PURPOSE BEHIND OUR ACTIONS.
The Silverado Foundation is a nonprofit organization that funds research, provides education, financial and emotional support to caregivers, individuals and families who serve those afflicted with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. This Foundation was created by Silverado Senior Living, Inc., which operates assisted living communities designed to meet the physical and emotional needs of residents with Alzheimer's disease, and to provide emotional support to families.
With over a decade of experience in the management of successful communities, Silverado's goal is to create a positive, fulfilling life for all residents in a warm, comfortable and caring environment.
Silverado Foundation funds are made possible by the generous and compassionate support of donors who give in appreciation of the special care offered to Silverado Senior Living residents, clients and patients, and to the community at large.
What the Foundation Provides
The Foundation provides educational scholarships to employees of Silverado Senior Living who wish to expand their intellectual, emotional and psychological growth or pursue vocational training. Educational scholarships also may be awarded to non-employee caregivers or other individuals who demonstrate a notable commitment toward improving the quality of life in the care of dementia illnesses.
The Silverado Foundation also sponsors community education programs for the general public on issues regarding Alzheimer's, dementia and other elder care concerns. These quality programs are open to all individuals who seek additional knowledge in the disease process and other care related matters.
The Foundation also funds research efforts through Silverado Senior Living's research affiliations with multiple organizations, such as University of California San Diego, University of Southern California, and the University of California Los Angeles, the University of Utah, the University of North Texas, and Baylor College of Medicine.
SILVERADO STORIES
~ Foundation In Action ~
When Gail Jordanova began working as a Housekeeper for Silverado – Calabasas in 1999, she barely spoke English. Gail had emigrated from Bulgaria hoping for a better life in America.
Eager to learn and willing to help, she went beyond her listed duties, simply because she loved her job. Gail transferred to a night shift Caregiver position. Three years later she was promoted to Staffing Coordinator.
Mindful of herself, her residents, and her colleagues, she has been well liked by all. Gail even met her husband at Silverado!
But Gail wanted more. Her dreams included a career in nursing. She saved money, kept working, and applied for student loans. Still, the cost of school was out of reach.
The Silverado Foundation awarded Gail a scholarship, allowing her to graduate from nursing school with her Licensed Vocational Nursing degree. She still works at the Calabasas community, and has plans to continue on with school to earn her Registered Nurse degree. Gail’s dream is to become a future Director of Health Services for Silverado - Calabasas.
Gail’s son, Danny, grew up at Silverado. He’s been coming with her to work since he was three! Last year she was finally able to move him permanently to the United States; he’d had dual residencies. Her family reunited and her career on a bright path, Gail has attained the life she had dreamt of in Bulgaria.
Forever passionate, Gail continues to be an exemplary model of how a Silverado employee should act. She loves the elderly, and wants to make a difference in the lives of those affected by memory impairing diseases. Hers is truly a Silverado Success Story. Please help others like Gail, with your tax deductible donation today.
"I love working at Silverado because the possibilities are endless. The love and support I find here is like family." |
